The Dutch film industry is well represented at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, which takes place from March 7 to 15. Bear Damen's short film "Synthesize Me" is competing in the Narrative Short Competition. The film, produced by Couscous Films and sold by New Europe Film Sales, is set in 1989 near Mexico City and follows a teenage girl who accidentally causes a power outage. In addition, six Dutch immersive works have been selected, including "Shelter" by Sjors Swierstra and Ivanna Khitsinka, a VR documentary about the war in Ukraine.
