Darkness and the Light Onlangs was de Ierse singer-songwriter Ben Reel in onze studio voor een Seriously Acoustic sessie. Hij is in Nederland om zijn nieuwe album "DARKNESS AND THE LIGHT" te promoten en deed daarbij ook Leeuwarden aan. Seriously Acoustic greep de kans en nodigde hem uit voor een sessie. Ben Reel is een soulvolle zanger die de Ierse muzikale erfenis makkelijk mengt met blues, soul en reggae. Een moderne singer-songwriter, met aanstekelijke songs. In Engeland (en zijn thuisland Ierland) was hij reeds te gast bij de smaakmakers van radio en tv. Zo verscheen hij bij bekende BBC persoonlijkheden als Bob Harris en John Peel. Ook speelde hij met Jools Holland en The Cranberries. In de Seriously Acoustic sessie speelde Ben 6 nummers waarbij hij begeleid werd door bassist Ronald de Jong. De clip is van het nummer waarin de Ierse traditie het duidelijkst doorklinkt en is afkomstig van zijn laatste album "DARKNESS AND THE LIGHT". Mooi voor de donkere dagen. All the way from his hometown Monaghan, this Irish singer-songwriter visited Leeuwarden looking to promote his latest album, titled "DARKNESS AND THE LIGHT". It shows the kind of dedication he has to share his tunes and tell his stories. Whilst being in Leeuwarden he recorded a Seriously Acoustic session in our studio. Ben Reel is a singer with soul who delivers his songs with power and conviction. Mixing his Irish roots up with blues, soul and reggae to come up with a sound of his own. Impressively, the latest album was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Ben Reel himself, at Drumill lane recording studio, in 2013. Over the last 10 years he has had numerous high profile TV & Radio appearances, some of which include Bob Harris BBC Radio 2. In addition, he has supported big names like Jools Holland, Alabama 3, The Cranberries and has appeared as a special guest at one of Hal Ketchum's shows in Dublin. During the Seriously Acoustic session Ben recorded 6 songs accompanied by the bass player, Ronald De Jong.
