Sofie Letitre // Live video session in Utrecht
On behalf of New Sounds of Europe. Camera & editing by Timo Millitz & Matteo Villa. Audio by Ferdy van der Singel.
Dutch singer/songwriter Sofie Letitre appreciates a bit of an experiment. She moved 2,5 years ago from the north of the Netherlands to the city of Utrecht to discover herself anew. On her second album, which is being recorded at this moment, she also sets a new course. She breaks free from the traditional form of verse-chorus to a more Radiohead-ish approach where you can virtually get lost in the music. In this session she plays a song like that. However it being a precious song for her, we will probably not find it on her new album.
The session was recorded in Het Gebouw (The Building), a prominent white box of bricks in a large new housing area in Utrecht. This minimalistic building – two blocks lying crosswise over each other – is designed by artist Stanley Brouwn. Twice a year, cultural foundation De Vrijstaat sets out an interactive exhibition for everybody from 6 years and older. In the intermediate time local artists can expose their work.
