description
Broken Dreams is the remarkable life story of a unique airplane that was supposed to be used for the musical Soldier of Orange in the Netherlands. But everything turned out different than planned. On Friday the thirteenth, August 2010, this particular Dakota was involved in a terrible accident while being transported on the road.

What’s special about Broken Dreams is that the story is told from the plane’s perspective. The accident is used as a starting point for the plane herself to reflect upon her life and the part she played in history. By now she is a fragile ‘grand old lady’. Plane lovers will confirm this; a plane is always referred to as being female - especially a Dakota, which is elegant and stylish.

Built by so-called Rosie the Riveters in Oklahoma, USA, she was once considered Queen of the sky and flew at the end of World War II for military purposes. After the war she was used to fly just about anything; from passengers and airmail to day-old chicks, experiencing many great adventures along the way. She was also hugely popular in museums, until the day of the accident.

Will there still be a future for this plane or has her story come to an end...
