about me
Camiel Zwart (1980) graduated from the film academy in 2006 with the film Amen. The documentary tells the story of two teenagers from a very strict Reformed congregation. The girls are about to go to college and have to leave their Christian village for the Godless city.

Immediately after graduating, Camiel founded the production agency Blackframe together with Sanne Cousijn. In the first year this resulted in the documentary Home made about the band The Gathering and the short film Otra Vez, about people in Honduras who have never seen film.

At the end of 2007 Camiel made the children's series KidsXL. This was followed by the documentary Samen Alone about life in an orphanage in the Ukraine. The film was a huge success at the Movies that Matter Festival and was nominated at several other festivals and won the Golden Award in Qatar

In 2009 he shot the documentary 0.5km2 Noord about the demolition of the flats on Dijkmanshuizenstraat in Noord, where Camiel lived for about 2 years. The film follows the last year of a number of residents of the street and searches for the moment when a memory arises. This year he also attended IDFA's Kids&Docs Workshop for writing a youth documentary. He developed the film Op Eigen Benen, about three boys who go on holiday alone for the first time. His plan won the Kids&Docs media fund prize a year later.

In addition, Camiel also contributed to the series Erik and Sascha in Africa for Net5 as a directing cameraman, for which he camped in Malawi for a month.

In 2011 he worked on a new long documentary Complete Past Time, about the last year for a small village school. The film was broadcast in 2013 by RTV Drenthe. In addition, he was selected for IDFA workshop for long documentary and he made the short dance film Momentum, which was purchased by the NTR.

In 2013 he made the episode The gray gold for the program Tegenlicht about the opportunities in the older market. And co-wrote the screenplay for Renee Wilna Span's documentary, The best yet to come.

In addition to the many documentaries, Camiel also regularly produces commissioned films for, for example: Rabobank, UWV, Municipality of Rotterdam, Siemens, Douwe Egberts, and Unicef
