Music critic and Beatles historian. Masataka was born and raised in Japan.
In 2011 he moved from Tokyo to Amsterdam, with his wife and daughter. His latest book “Beatles-Rainichi-gaku” (Beatles’-visiting-Japanology) received the “Best popular music book of 2016” award in Japan.
His career in the film industry began as one of the journalists in “Godzilla” (Japan, 1984). He then produced cartoon series “Chibi maruko chan”.
His European film debut was “Silent City” (Nederland, Luxemburg, België, 2012), in which he acts a cook.
His first opportunity to play the lead part is “Hirofumi’s suitcase”(Nederland 2017) which awarded Grand Pris at the 11th CinemAsia Film Festival.
Not only acting but also voice-over is his field.
In Japan, he did many radio-commercials (e.g. Nisshin Cup-Noodle, Sankyo-Lulu 30th anniversary radio commercial etc.)
He has been weekly appearing influential radio program in Japan.
