I have worked as a sound engineer, mixer, designer since my first day of university back in 2011. I did this not for the sake of earning money, but because it was and is something that I truly love to do. Music and sound have always been an big part of my life, and to be able to record it, mix it and make it sound the best it can has always been my biggest dream. Be it in the studio, venue, or classroom.
To achieve this, I entered the Sound recording and engineering program at USFQ in 2011. There I earned years of technical knowledge and experience in the field of studio recording as well as mixing and mastering. During my undergrad I also worked with dozens of bands of different genres, gaining experience producing different types of music and how to work with different genres. During this time, I also started working in the evenings at music venues and festivals doing stage setup and live sound for bands varying from jazz to metal.
During these years I also studied in-depth music theory, ear training, conducting and sight reading. All of that, accompanied with private guitar lessons from the best teachers in my country allowed me to become a very well rounded musician. I have played in venues all over my country and outside it, in the UK and the US, from 2013, many different genres including rock, metal, jazz, funk, that have helped me gain a lot of experience as well as more expertise in guitar playing. My two main bands at the time were “Silver bullet” and “Stoke”.
I also had the opportunity to work from 2010 as a music teacher for kids, ranging in ages from 4-17. This helped practice group management, leadership and communication skills that have proven to be extremely useful in other projects, especially when working in a team of people or when producing a band.
After finishing my bachelors degree I worked for my university as a sound technician, mainly focusing on doing live sound for all the concerts happening in university, as well as helping with studio recordings and maintenance (fixing the consoles, cables, and microphones). This has given me a lot of experience with events ranging from student concerts in theaters to huge outdoor festivals with thousands of people in attendance.
While doing this I also worked as a freelancer for “Alto Studio” a studio mainly focusing on media production. I produced and helped produce many jingles for radio and tv commercials, as well as some ADR sessions for indie films. I also collaborated with this studio to produce a show called “1-UP: The best live video game show”. I produced the backing tracks for the band and was the lead guitar player.
In 2018 I left my country to study Sound Design at the University of Edinburgh. There, apart from learning deeply about fixed and interactive sound design, I was able to collaborate in various documentaries, indie films and games as a sound designer, giving me experience in these new kind of medias, especially when it comes to using Unity and Wwise .
I have done all of this in order to have a lot of experience in many aspects of the field. Experience in the field is the perfect way to cement the knowledge gained and in my many years of engineering I have been able to do that, although I'm still learning when I work with
people. All of this experience has prepared me to be able to work in any work environment, and to do it in a successful and efficient manner.
