I am Martine de Jong, 32 years old and living in the north of the Netherlands. Until now I have always worked as a language teacher of Spanish and English, but I notice that that work alone does not give me enough energy, so I am looking into my options for a (partial) career switch.
I have been writing film scripts for two years now. I have many ideas, also for TV programs and documentaries. I want to make people think, put the other side of reality in a light. In July 2020 I followed the intensive beginners course TV and Film Directing 1 at TV College in Hilversum. This has opened my eyes: this is my passion, it gives me a lot of energy and I am now investigating whether I can continue professionally. This requires knowledge and experience and since it is too expensive to study full-time for four years at my age, I am looking for experience in other ways. For example, I worked one day a week as a volunteer for broadcaster LEO Middelsé for six months to gain more experience in directing, camera operating and video editing (Adobe Première). In addition, I have recently become part of the script team of the Open Film Team foundation.
In addition, I try to educate myself as much as possible through courses and part-time courses. In 2020/2021 I followed the Scenario Writer course at the Writers Academy. This academic year I will follow the online annual course 'Story Masterclass' at the Story Academy in Sweden. For that I am writing a feature and a pilot with series bible.
I hope to be able to come into contact with inspiring people here who can guide me further in this, for me, new world. I am motivated, a fast learner and I believe in my potential.
