This heralded documentary film covers the huge sex scandal that Polanski found himself entangled in while he was in the United States. Polanski was at the height of his fame when suddenly things took a turn. First his wife was brutally murdered by a cult which was supposedly possessed by a guy called Charlie Manson. Then he was charged with pedophilia when he was convicted of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, 13-year-old Samantha Geimer, whom he plied with champagne and Quaaludes during a photo shoot for Vogue at which no one else was present (at Jack Nicholson\'s villa). The film explains what happened and why Polanski fled America before the trial was concluded and has never returned since. This film, through interviews and archival material reviews this turbulent period of the director\'s life & the chaos that followed.

Repulsion was the Polish director\'s first film in English and starred the young Catherine Deneuve who plays a Belgian girl stranded in \'60s London, a shy beauty with no social skills. When her sister leaves their shared flat, Deneuve goes gradually, quietly, completely mad. Her world becomes Polanski\'s nightmarish vision, as the director breaks down the separation between reality and imagination. Very few films cast the kind of eerie spell that this 1965 classic achieves.
