In 2025, cinema attendance in the Netherlands unexpectedly fell by 3%, despite an increase in the average ticket price. Total revenue was only 1% lower than in 2024. The decline is attributed to a lack of major blockbusters and the underperformance of Dutch films. The most-attended film was "A Minecraft Movie," with almost a million admissions. Dutch films such as "Voor de meisjes" (For the Girls) made it into the top 20, but only thirteen Dutch films attracted more than 100,000 admissions. Movie theaters outperformed commercial cinemas, thanks in part to the Cinneville pass.
