Belga Films, Belgium's oldest film distributor and operator of the White Cinema cinema in Brussels, has been declared bankrupt. Rising costs and the halving of cinema attendance in Brussels following the coronavirus pandemic contributed to the financial problems. Belga Films, founded in 1937, also had subsidiaries such as Belga Studios and nWave Studios, which remain unaffected by the bankruptcy. The Dutch subsidiary, Independent Films, also remains operational.
