As of April 1, 2026, actor Joes Brauers will take over the chairmanship of the Dutch Academy For Film (DAFF) from DoP Guido van Gennep, with the board deliberately choosing a representative of a new generation of makers who can unite the sector in a time of change. Brauers, who won a Golden Calf in 2025 for his lead role in the short film Fuck-a-Fan, aims to explore, driven by curiosity and boldness, what filmmakers as a community need to advance their work and stories. Managing Director Francine Hofstee emphasizes that the position of makers is under pressure and that a collective voice is therefore essential.
