In May 1969, a group of students from the Netherlands Film and Television Academy traveled to the occupied Maagdenhuis on the Spui in Amsterdam, registering as a solidarity delegation to collect film footage for their practical day. When the police fired tear gas grenades inside that evening and the skybridge was removed, the writer filmed the chaos in the atrium with an Arri BL 16mm, fearless thanks to his military service. The following morning, the group documented the distribution of food ration coupons and the dragging away of occupiers, until they too were arrested and had to account for their presence at the Lijnbaansgracht police station.
