Nienke Korthof of Tangerine Tree co-produces The Apologist by Kristof Bilsen, which has its world premiere in the International Competition of Sheffield DocFest and in which Bilsen explores how sincere apologies can change lives, both personally and politically. The film, in which NDR, ARTE, VRT, VPRO, and RTBF are involved as broadcasting partners, deliberately deviates from the conventional, character-driven documentary format. In Sheffield, Korthof also presents The Sacrifice by Ruud Lenssen and Sander Selen, an archival film about polar explorer Marc Cornelissen, who died in 2015 when he fell through thin ice, in which his personal fate is intertwined with the demise of the Arctic.
