In her short documentary *Do You Know That I'm With You*, presented at Sheffield DocFest, Amsterdam-based Uyghur filmmaker Darya Andijan evokes the forgotten myth of Gülem, a goddess of carpet weaving, connecting female stories across borders against the backdrop of Chinese oppression and cultural erasure. Because books and archives in Xinjiang had been systematically destroyed, Andijan was only able to research her own culture in Amsterdam, after which she traversed Uzbekistan to film weavers and incorporated verses by the imprisoned poet Gulnisa Imin into the film. She intends to develop the subject into a feature-length documentary.
