When East Meets West (WEMW) has opened registration for its 17th edition, which takes place in Trieste from 17 to 19 January 2027. The Co-Production Forum selects twenty projects in development, including feature films, documentaries, and short animations. The spotlight countries are Poland, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. WEMW aims for a quota of 50% debut directors in the final selection. New this year is the Eurimages Co-production Development Award: a non-refundable grant of €20,000 for the early development of international co-productions. Early registration is free until 30 September; last-minute registrations cost €30 and close on 10 October.
