New Dawn concludes its final production round with four selected projects. The fund, established in 2022, received a total of 304 applications and supported 45 filmmakers with 33 projects. The four selected projects come from Wallonia, the Netherlands, and Canada. Karim Akalay and Centre Vidéo de Bruxelles are working on a film about a family in Brussels during a heatwave. Yim Brakel is making a road trip film about the 1998 World Cup with Labyrint Film. Miryam Charles and Coop Vidéo Montréal are developing a film about Monique following a suicide attempt. Yianna Americanou and Ely Chevillot are writing for Mirage Films about an intersex woman who wants to protect her niece.
