Tarona's short film AWA will premiere at the Netherlands Film Festival 2026. The film explores the connection between people through water, viewed from the perspective of water as an all-seeing narrator. Themes such as immigration, death, and breaking negative patterns converge in personal stories from Tarona's own circle. She wanted to portray Black people with dignity and love. Tarona identifies a shortage of Black female cinematographers in the Netherlands. Jenn Nkiru's film Rebirth Is Necessary gave her the courage to film again in 2019, which ultimately led to AWA.
