The filming of CODE BLUE, the new film by director and screenwriter Urszula Antoniak, will start on Friday, September 17. CODE BLUE is Antoniak's second feature film project. Her first, Nothing Personal, won major prizes at the Locarno and Seville film festivals and won four Golden Calves at the 2009 Dutch Film Festival, including Best Feature Film. In the Netherlands, 'Nothing Personal' was one of the most visited arthouse films of recent years with 67,000 visitors. The leading roles in CODE BLUE are played by Bien de Moor and Lars Eidinger. Co-producers of the film are VPRO and the Danish production company Zentropa, known for films by Suzanne Bier, Thomas Vinterberg and all Lars von Trier films.

CODE BLUE is a contemporary tragedy about a nurse who works in the oncology department. The only intimacy in her life is the intimacy she has with her patients.
One night she witnesses a brutal rape. She's not the only one who sees that. The forced intimacy that then arises with her anonymous neighbor changes who she is.

CODE BLUE was selected in May of this year for the Cinefondation Atelier in Cannes, which aims to support (young) directors in financing and completing their projects.

Lead actress Bien de Moor previously played the leading role in the short film 'Vera' by Thomas Korthals Altes and also plays a lot of theatre. In 2005 she received a Theo d'Or for her role in 'De Meiden' by the National Theater. Co-star Lars Eidinger is one of the most talked about young actors in Germany. He played the leading role in the critically acclaimed film 'All Others' by director Maren Ade, which was awarded the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival (2009). On stage, Lars Eidinger played the title role in the famous version of 'Hamlet', by director Thomas Ostermeier. A third important role is reserved for Annemarie Prins, known for her portrayal of Annie MG Schmidt in the television series of the same name.

The shooting will take place in Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark and will last until the end of October.

CODE BLUE is produced by IDTV Film and Family Affair Films, in co-production with VPRO and Zentropa and is made possible with the support of the Dutch Film Fund.
Distributor Wild Bunch releases the film in cinemas.
