On Sunday, November 7, at 11:45 PM, the Buddhist Broadcasting Corporation will broadcast The Directors on Nederland 2. A documentary (60 min) by George Schouten about the rock band of directors and film colleagues. A story about friendship and individualism, ambitions and illusions, the passage of time, and growing older.

In 1984, Ate de Jong, Dick Maas, and George Schouten founded The Directors, a band of feature film directors. Later, several other directors joined, along with actors, actresses, and singers. The documentary The Directors follows the band members at home, on film sets, at rehearsals, and during performances. It is a story about friendship, contrasting personalities, aging, ambitions, and illusions. Anecdotes and archival footage provide a sometimes hilarious retrospective on the lives of the film friends. Time has been kind to them. Everyone knows or has known success. To sharpen their focus, they decide to create their own song to be played later at the funeral of a band member.
