For the first time in film history, SubmarineChannel is releasing a DVD box set featuring a collection of the most beautiful contemporary opening titles. In addition to 38 title sequences from films, TV series, and games, this unique DVD box set includes 9 exclusive short documentaries about leading title creators.

The DVD release provides an overview of the most thrilling, creepiest, most moving, and most beautiful titles of the past six years. The emphasis is on European and independent films. In addition to an overview of title sequences, the short documentaries reveal interesting backgrounds and sources of inspiration for the filmmakers.

Both Hollywood and independent film studios invest time and money in creating the most fitting title sequences, as these are crucial to the first impression of their films. Sometimes they tell a story of their own and are a film in themselves. These works of art often remain underexposed. To give these gems the attention they deserve, the project Forget the Film, Watch the Titles! was launched as a website (watchthetitles.com) in 2006. This popular website now boasts a collection of over 140 titles, including those of Juno, The Pink Panther, and God of War III. In the autumn of 2010, a compilation program of this collection was screened on the big screen in various Dutch cinemas.

The DVD box set contains a total of nearly 3 hours of content featuring well-known titles, as well as some previously unreleased title sequences, such as Earthwork. The opening titles of Oliver Stone's Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps are included, as well as Dutch productions such as Dunya & Desie, De Griezelbus, and Killzone 2. In the 9 short documentaries, internationally renowned title creators such as Richard Morrison (Batman, Sweeney Todd) and Laurent Brett (Hostage) speak at length.
