IN YOUR NAME, the second feature film by director Marco van Geffen, has been selected for the prestigious Cannes L'atelier 2012, an initiative with which the Cannes Film Festival encourages the emergence of a new generation of filmmakers.

Today, L'Atelier announced the 15 selected directors and their projects from 14 different countries, including China, Chile, France, India, and the Netherlands. The filmmakers are selected based on the quality of the project, the quality of previous films, and the project's financing. During the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, the directors and their producers will be put in contact with international financiers and other film professionals.

IN YOUR NAME tells the story of a normal, happy couple who are completely thrown off course when their newborn child dies unexpectedly. When the woman becomes pregnant again, her husband cannot come to terms with it and sees only one solution…
Barry Atsma (KOMT EEN VROUW BIJ DE DOKTER, LOFT) and Elise Schaap (BRIDE FLIGHT) have been cast for the lead roles.

The film is the second part of Marco van Geffen's trilogy titled Vinex, about family dramas. ONDER ONS, the first part of the trilogy, had its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival in August 2011, where the film won two awards. This was immediately followed by the North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Asian premiere is at the end of this month in Hong Kong. With his feature film debut, Marco van Geffen was included in Screen International's 2011's HITS AND RISING STARS.
His short film THE SISTER received a Golden Palm nomination at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007.

Screenwriter Jolein Laarman wrote scripts for, among others, TUSSENSTAND, HET ZUSJE VAN KATIA (winner of the Golden Calf for Best Screenplay 2008) and, more recently, KAUWBOY (winner of Best Debut Film and winner of Best Youth Film at the Berlin International Film Festival).

IN YOUR NAME is produced by Lemming Film and will be shot in the autumn of 2012. The film is being made with support from the Netherlands Film Fund.
International sales are handled by the French sales agent Elle Driver. Distributor Cinéart is expected to release the film in Dutch cinemas in the spring of 2013.
