Film about sexual abuse wins at Go Short Nijmegen
'Wednesdays' by Aaron Rookus gives a face to an anonymous child

The short film 'Wednesdays' by director Aaron Rookus won the Best Dutch Film award at the International Go Short Film Festival in Nijmegen last night. The film depicts the innocent world of Kris (8), who goes swimming with Willem (28) every Wednesday. This Wednesday, however, everything changes due to a strange request.

The jury was unanimous in its choice, calling the film 'tasteful in its tastelessness' and praising the 'balanced approach to the delicate subject'. Director Rookus received a check worth 1,000 euros, which he plans to invest in the sequel to the film. Next month, 'Woensdagen', produced by VENFILM, will have its international premiere at the Dresden Shortfest. The film will be available for download starting Monday at www.wednesdaysthefilm.com
