CHRIS CUNNINGHAM ON 5 DAYS OFF

English video artist and director Chris Cunningham (Warp Records), known for his work with Aphex Twin, Björk, and Madonna, will present a unique audiovisual live show in the Melkweg Rabozaal during 5 Days Off. This special performance, a first for the Netherlands, consists of a combination of brand-new material, remixes, and original material by Cunningham. Film and music are mixed live in a dynamic manner, with the visual end result displayed on three screens. Cunningham's intense, nihilistic style is widely acclaimed and makes him one of the leading audiovisual artists of recent years.

Live shows by Chris Cunningham, who specializes in directing video and photography, are considered a rarity. The British visual artist has a recognizable style on every visual platform, in which the human body takes center stage in a distorted and oppressive manner.

Prior to Chris Cunningham's show, the audiovisual performance 'Rheo' by Japanese artist Ryoichi Kurokawa will be screened. Kurokawa's work is characterized by an exquisitely delicate aesthetic that has caused a sensation in recent years. 'Rheo' is an audiovisual triptych characterized by constant landscape changes in which the distinction between real and artificial images is no longer discernible. Combined with the music, this results in a breathtaking, blissfully beautiful performance.
