Actor Carol van Herwijnen has passed away suddenly in his hometown of Amsterdam. After training at drama school in Amsterdam, Van Herwijnen made his debut with Toneelgroep Studio in 1965. He became known for countless roles on stage, television (including *Kunt u mij de weg naar Hamelen vertellen, meneer?*), and in films. In 1988, he won the Louis d'Or for his role in Pinter's *One for the Road*, directed by Mette Bouhuijs. Additionally, he was notorious in the theater world as the actor who assaulted Volkskrant critic Hein Janssen in 1994 following a broadcast of the program *De Plantage*. This summer, Van Herwijnen performed as a drag queen in the production *Bouillabaisse* at the Parade festival, alongside Kees Boot and Barbara Pouwels, among others. Van Herwijnen was 67 years old.
