Noorderzon is a theatre festival, but above all, it is a celebration of theatre in the broadest sense of the word. The work presented is primarily multidisciplinary in nature, which means there is at least as much room for dance, digital media, and music as for spoken text.
The festival takes place in two locations. The first is the Noorderplantsoen, a beautiful park known for its atmospheric evenings. Here, a large number of performances can be found in all kinds of venues, from enormous tents to small containers. The second location is the city center, 'DownTown'. There, too, you will find the performances in a variety of different places, from theaters and cinemas to special venues.
