In September, the Dutch Filmers Academy (DFA) in Rotterdam and Amsterdam will start with courses at higher vocational education and secondary vocational education level. The market is calling for pragmatic and all-round filmmakers, but the existing courses at purely HBO or MBO level do not appear to be sufficiently compatible. The new practice-oriented HBO and MBO film courses of the Dutch Filmers Academy meet the needs of the market.

Paul Akkermans, director of the Fotovakschool and initiator of the Dutch Filmers Academy: “We are seeing a demand in the market for videographers who are more pragmatic and broadly trained, yet who are able to respond to questions from the business community and the film and media world at a high level. The new DFA courses are born out of this trend and provide a new generation of all-round filmmakers who are able to optimally use the new techniques for various clients”.

The academy is organizing an open day in Rotterdam on Saturday 27 June to provide prospective students with information and personal study advice.
