EL TOPO is a wild surrealist film about a man dressed in black leather who crosses the desert of civilization, experiencing all of its fear, madness, poverty and savagery. It is a film which is lyrical and totally unique- a 'metaphysical western' which goes places that no western had gone before, and no western has gone since. A visionary epic shot with no money, it took Jodorowsky three years to finally finish it. It is visually composed of poetic imagery, and its deranged storyline has often been compared to an LSD trip while others insist that it is an art film. Either way it is a film that you will never forget!
