The guest curator of the International Film Festival Breda, which takes place for the second time from March 24–28, 2010, is the renowned filmmaker, photographer, artist, and writer Alain Fleischer. The festival is screening his ten favorite feature films, and he is attending the entire festival.
The International Film Festival Breda, which focuses on film and visual culture, is taking place for the second time this year in the MustSee Bioscoop and in various public spaces in the city center. Alain Fleischer (Paris, 1944)
Alain Fleischer is the son of the famous director Max Fleischer. With over 160 titles to his name—feature films, short films, documentaries, experimental projects, and commissions—he is a driving force behind European independent film that should not be underestimated. His best-known films are Zoo Zéro (1987) and Le Louvre imaginaire (1993). In his surrealist photographs, Alain Fleischer often makes use of mirrors and other shiny objects such as cutlery. Both his films and his art projects and photographs are exhibited worldwide. He has also written some twenty books and essays, both fiction and non-fiction, and is affiliated as a lecturer with various international art schools and universities.

Fleischer is currently the director of the prestigious Le Fresnoy, Studio Nationale des Arts Contemporaine in Tourcoing, France. At the request of the French government, he founded this school in 1996 with the aim of offering a new form of high-quality education with an emphasis on film and combinations with modern media.

Alian Fleischer's top ten includes many highlights of classic cinema, such as Battleship Potemkin by Sergei M. Eisenstein (1925), Persona by Ingmar Bergman, and 8 ½ by Federico Fellini (1963).
