In Pier Paolo Pasolini - PPP, Jeroen Spitzenberger slips into the skin of the renowned Italian filmmaker and writer. Director Franz Marijnen has harbored a fascination for Pasolini for years. Previously, Marijnen created the successful production about the brilliant pianist Glenn Gould at the National Theatre. Now follows Pier Paolo Pasolini - PPP, an exceptional portrait of a controversial genius.

Pasolini (1922–1975) wrote beautiful poems and stories, but he also shocked and his work aroused the disapproval of many Italians. Pasolini's life was full of contradictions. He called himself a Marxist Christian, thereby antagonizing both the Catholic Church and the Communist Party. As a homosexual womanizer, he lived with his mother his entire life. He was a cosmopolitan who enjoyed driving fast cars, but at the same time loved the slow pace of life in the Italian countryside. The communist Pasolini railed against the capitalist policies that perpetuated the harsh life in the slums, but his friends could never be vulgar enough for him. According to some, Pasolini was a genius; according to others, a pervert, but in any case, a visionary.
Eventually, he was brutally murdered.
