On the occasion of Hotel van Hassel, a long weekend of short stories taking place at De Balie in Amsterdam from April 16 to 18, the short story special of literary magazine Tirade is being published. Short stories by Dutch authors, inspired by seven short films by European filmmakers.

Seven talented young authors were given a logline: a summary of a film in one catchy sentence. The stories they wrote based on this appear in this edition of Tirade. Readers of Tirade receive a free DVD containing the seven short films that served as the starting point for the stories.

On Friday evening, April 16, the first copy of the Hotel van Hassel-Tirade will be presented to filmmaker Hanro Smitsman.

Inspired by the logline of Smitman's film Dajo, Vincent Overeem wrote the short story Panter. During Hotel van Hassel, the seven films will be screened and the stories read aloud by the writers, who will also be watching the films themselves for the first time.

In addition to Dajo, the short films The Adventure by Mike Brune, Wrestling by Grimur Hakonarsson, Nous by Olivier Hems, Sniffer by Bobbie Peers, Meme pas mort by Claudine Natkine, and Soft by Simon Ellis are included on the DVD. The stories based on the loglines of these films were written by Jan van Mersbergen, Elke Geurts, Bianca Boer, Lodewijk van Oord, Maartje Wortel, and Walter van den Berg.
