The Brussels Film Festival, taking place from June 23 to June 30, has added several interesting professional programs to its offerings. Among other things, you can attend a masterclass on writing low-budget films, given by Elliot Grove of the Raindance Film Festival in London, and a script pitching competition is being organized to encourage young filmmakers and screenwriters to develop their concepts.

Fellow countryman and director Jaco Van Dormael (Mr. Nobody) will also contribute with a workshop as part of European Day at the festival, which is being organized on the occasion of the Belgian EU presidency starting in July.

Furthermore, any European production with a Belgian co-producer is eligible to present their project to potential investors, in order to enter into a collaboration under the Belgian tax benefits.

The Brussels Film Festival opens on June 23 with Tournée by Mathieu Amalric and closes with Le Bel Age by Laurent Perreau. The major difference this year is that the festival has moved away from showing only first and second films by European directors. They are now also focusing on more well-known names.

Other new features include a section with European genre films and a short film competition.
