48 Hour Film project is a worldwide phenomenon. This year, around 8,000 filmmakers in more than 70 cities are expected to make a short film within 48 hours. In 2010, 48 Hour by the Sea will be organized for the first time on the weekend of September 3 to 5.

During the 48 Hour by the Sea project, participating teams are given 48 hours to create their own film with a mandatory prop, character, and genre. It is the opportunity to find a platform for your own vision of film with limited resources and possibilities.

In 48 hectic hours, you and your team (camera/light/sound/actors/directors) create a complete film of a maximum of seven minutes. No time for consultation, no time to think too long, but take action immediately.

A week later on Sunday, September 12, you can see your film premiered in the cinema during Film by the Sea. The awards ceremony will then immediately follow and it will be announced which film has won.

You must submit your film on time to have a chance to win the main prizes: a trip for two to Turkey and your film will be professionally subtitled for the international competition, the Filmapalooza final in Las Vegas!

48 Hour by the Sea is the way to fully utilize your creativity, explore your limits and put yourself on the map as a filmmaker. The winning film of 48 Hour by the Sea will advance to the final in the US and the chance that you will break through with your 48 Hour by the Sea film is therefore very real.

48 Hour by the Sea takes place in Vlissingen. If you are not from Zeeland/Vlissingen, this is not a problem. The Film by the Sea organization is busy arranging good and cheap places to sleep and we also provide a safe place where you can store your equipment.
