Actors Robert de Hoog and Hanna Verboom play the lead roles in a feature film about Joran van der Sloot.

The English-language film Me & Mr Jones tells the fictional story of an undercover journalist (De Hoog) who goes looking for Natalee Holloway five years after her disappearance. He hopes to force a breakthrough by breaking into Van der Sloot's house and then makes a shocking discovery. Verboom plays a woman who does not have long to live and who works with the undercover journalist.

Actor Robert de Hoog won a Golden Calf two years ago for his role in the film Skin and will soon be seen in Schemer, which is also inspired by true events. Hanna Verboom became known for, among other things, the series De Co-Assistent.

The film was shot on Aruba between April and June. The director is Paul Ruven.

During the shoot, 22-year-old Van der Sloot made the news again, this time because he is suspected of the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in Peru. He has been detained for this ever since in the Peruvian Miguel Castro Castro prison in Lima. This case is also incorporated into Me & Mr Jones.

The producer is Talent United; the distributor is BFD. The film was developed with the artistic director of the Netherlands Film Fund, Jan Eilander. The film will premiere in early 2011.
