André Thijs is a versatile actor and singer with a broad interest in theater, film, television, and human stories. His theatrical adventure began with the local folk theater group ADO Norg in 1991. Later, he continued his theatrical journey with Toneelgroep Kunst en Vreugd in Hooglede, Belgium. His experience extends beyond amateur theatre. In addition to his years of involvement in theatre productions, he has also done paid acting work. He is drawn to a wide range of roles: from comedic and lighthearted to raw, vulnerable, and confrontational. In his acting, André seeks authenticity. Inspired by principles of Method Acting, he draws on his own experiences, emotions, and observations. He attempts not only to play a character but to understand it from within and make it relatable. In doing so, the person behind the character is at least as interesting as the story itself. Music and singing also form an important part of his creative identity. A sense of timing, rhythm, expression, and atmosphere come together in his style of playing and performing. André loves characters with a rough edge, unexpected twists, and stories that stir emotions. He is curious, headstrong, and not afraid to step off the beaten path. Whether it concerns theater, film, television, series, or documentaries: he is open to new encounters, challenging roles, and stories that simply must be told.

Creatieve Drent met een scheut humor, meer authentiek dan perfect. Rafelrandje. Niet gepolijst, wel puur.
