Wim T. Schippers, who died in Amsterdam on Wednesday at the age of 83, was regarded as one of the most influential Dutch media creators and artists. He made a name for himself with television programs such as Hoepla and De Fred Haché Show, which he co-developed with Ellen Jens. The general public knew him as the voice of Ernie in Sesame Street, a role he fulfilled for decades while also voicing Kermit the Frog, Count von Count, and The Blue Gentleman, and writing children's songs with Paul Haenen. The Wim T. Schippers Foundation, established in 2024, preserves his artistic legacy.
