Dutch filmmaker Jikke Lesterhuis presents her ultra-short stop-motion animation *What is, is now* in the WTF competition at Annecy, where the two-and-a-half-minute film depicts the food chain on an intertidal sandbank until a human foot destroys the ecological harmony. Lesterhuis, who taught herself the craft following a background in product design and illustration, deliberately chose humor to reinforce her environmental message, while the ultra-short format made it difficult to give sufficient attention to every link in the food chain. The film, funded by the Netherlands Film Fund, required eight months of production time. Lesterhuis is also currently developing *I'm A Puppeteer* and *Emoji*.
