Aslı Bildirici presents her short film Rotten (Çürük) at the Netherlands Film Festival 2026. The film follows Zehra, a female graduate who works in her father's Turkish supermarket. When her father starts a political speech, tension in the store escalates. Bildirici made the film as a personal exercise in empathy, following a conflict with her Turkish greengrocer over politics. Her dream project is a feature film about femicide in Ankara, but funding proves difficult. She feels that Dutch films lack an emotional core. Errol Morris's The Thin Blue Line and Werner Herzog's Grizzly Man were defining factors in her cinematic vision.
