The NPO is already factoring in a budget cut of 111.7 million euros in its 2027 budget application. However, the accompanying legislative proposal has not yet been considered by the House of Representatives. Nevertheless, the NPO is submitting the application no later than September 15. Former Head of Legal Affairs Ronald Vecht questions this. He argues that the current Media Act still stipulates the higher minimum budget. According to Vecht, by already calculating with the lower amount, the NPO is reducing the risk of legal proceedings. In addition, the regional public broadcasters will face a separate budget cut of 1.7 million euros.
