Boulder is a multimedia performance by choreographer Yu He Lin and filmmaker David Verbeek, premiering on September 10 during the Amsterdam Fringe Festival at Perdu. The production combines dance, videography, and motion sensors to visualize age discrimination. 61-year-old dancer Jasmijn Antonisse plays a woman confronted with her aging body, while Yu stalks her with a camcorder. Verbeek also views the performance as a critique of social media culture, which glorifies youth. Yu experienced ageism herself when she stopped receiving dance assignments following the COVID-19 pandemic. After the festival, she hopes to tour with Boulder, particularly to Taiwan.
