Mike van Diem criticizes SEE NL because the committee submitted a documentary as the Dutch Oscar entry this year. According to him, there is already a separate competition category for documentaries at the Oscars. He argues that his own film, *Voor de meisjes*, actually had a good chance in America, partly because he is a well-known name in the US as an Oscar winner. Van Diem calls on fellow directors to also ask questions of SEE NL. He advocates for the professionalization of the committee, especially now that the Film Fund is spending money on research into the lack of international success. On December 15, it will be announced whether the entry *Paikar* makes the shortlist.
