Submit your short film to the Leids Film Festival

Have you made a short film of max. 30 minutes and would you like to show it to the general public? Then register and compete for the Iron Herring in the Hollandse Nieuwe competition of the Leids Film Festival. Entries must be received before September 1, 2010.

The Hollandse Nieuwe competition is an annual festival program and forms the basis of the Leids Film Festival. 'De Hollandse Nieuwe' is increasingly becoming a household name in the Dutch film world. The competition consists of two categories, Fiction and Animation. The best short film wins the Iron Herring and a cash prize. Last year, 'Wes' by Peter Hoogendoorn won the Fiction competition and 'Jazzed' by Anton Setola won the Iron Herring for best short animated film.

The Competition not only offers space for professional films and films from audiovisual courses, but also for semi-professional and amateur films, as long as they meet the criteria of young, creative and idiosyncratic.
The programmers select thirty short films from the entries, which are then assessed by a professional jury. In previous years, jury members included Gerrit van Dijk, Jos Stelling, Petra Goedings, René Wolf, Ilja Pfeijffer, Christiaan Weijts, David Deprez and Gertjan Zuilhof.
