BUT Film Festival program announced!

The program for the 6th BUT Film Festival has been announced. From September 7 to 11, the BUTFF festival will be dedicated to Non-Super-Glossy-Megapixel, or in other words, Non-special effects. Five days of B-films, underground and trash films, (comic) art, music, wandering poets, and performers with a sharp edge. BUT shows something DIFFERENT!
We take you through some of the highlights of the festival.

Nick Zedd (USA)
BUTFF presents a retrospective of main guest Nick Zedd (USA), founder of the Cinema of Transgression manifesto and inspiration to directors such as Jim Jarmush and Steve Buscemi.

Wednesday, September 7
BUTFF opens with the Swedish film 'Marianne' (2011) in the presence of director Filip Tegstedt.
After the opening film, the WOORDVAKKERS take you to the Boulevard for a performance by one-man band 'DeadElvis' (NL), Elvis is back with revenge and a master plan, and coffin musician Rockin'Rubbish from Tilburg.

Thursday, September 8
On Thursday, BUTFF screens the intimate documentary 'Noise & Resistance' (2011) by Julia Ostertag (D), offering a glimpse into the world of protest punks, and the Brazilian no-holds-barred splatter 'Night of the Cupacabras' (2011) by Rodrigo Aragão. From 8:00 PM, there will be a poetry stage on the festival square featuring, among others, Nick J. Swart, the Tilburg City Poet, and the Breda-based artist and performer Renée van Trier.

Friday, September 9
On Friday afternoon, there will be a panel debate with underground directors, including the much-discussed German director Marian Dora. The panel debate will be moderated by 'Mister Horror' JanDoense, also known from the Night of Bad Taste.
BlackFriday with the film 'Until the light takes us' (2008), a unique documentary about the Norwegian Black Metal scene. And three Satanic/Pagan bands that hurl their doom into the Boulevard at more than 666 km/h: Aderlating, Walpurisnacht, and Cirith Gorgor.

Saturday, September 10
At 8:00 PM, the BUTWALK, a fashion show by artist-performer Hermine Weggen, equipped with fashionable vomit bags especially for this occasion.
'The Bunny Game' (2010) a coming-of-age film about the prostitute Bunny (definitely not for wimps!)
In the evening, Martin Degville, frontman of Sigue Sigue Sputnik, takes the stage with dance-disco and a camp edge. Luk Paard (B), Poetry Performing the Rock & Roll, closes the day.

Sunday, September 11
A masterclass in creating overgore effects by the Toetag team of director Fred Vogel (USA).
French director Simon de Pernolitz finishes his film 'Maquinas Infernales' (2010) live on stage with the help of the audience. And in the evening, French erotic artist Costes is back on the BUT floor!

What is a BUT film??
'B-films' are films made on a small budget that do not fall under a major production studio. 'Underground films' are films that push the boundaries of what is acceptable. They often contain explicit images. 'Trash films' are over-the-top films in terms of content and visual material.
