Peace of Utrecht presents: VJ at the Dom 2011

De Dom goes wild with Boemklatsch, Tygo Gernandt & Egbert-Jan Weeber and Motomichi, among others, presented by Isolde Hallensleben

After two successful editions of DJ op de Dom, the Dom Tower will be ablaze on September 23 during VJ op de Dom 2011. This year, Vrede van Utrecht joins forces with Born Digital and three internationally renowned media festivals: the Netherlands Film Festival, the Holland Animation Film Festival, and Impakt. The host is presenter Isolde Hallensleben.

DJ op de Dom 2009 and 2010 has been renamed VJ op de Dom this year. If the Dom already looked like a spectacular disco tower in 2010, brace yourself for 2011! The Peace of Utrecht asked five parties to contribute to the program based on their expertise. The Utrecht night mayor collective Boemklatsch will provide the beats. VJ op de Dom is part of the major celebration of 300 years of the Peace of Utrecht in 2013.

The Netherlands Film Festival takes over the Dom with MC Tygo Gernandt and DJ Egbert-Jan Weeber. Besides acting, both gentlemen know very well how to throw a party. Japanese artist/animator Motomichi Nakamura presents a live video performance on behalf of The Holland Animation Film Festival featuring graphic elements, terrifying and witty characters, and slashing computer music. The Dom is going wild!

A storm of images
According to Impakt, Stellar OM Source & Ola Vasiljeva are the designated VJs to shed light on the stormy history of the Dom. Ola Vasiljeva edits archival material from the Utrecht Archives, while Stellar OM Source creates a live soundtrack. Born Digital designs audiovisual bytes, video mapping, and an interactive installation where you operate the controls yourself starting at 9:30 PM. Finally, the artists of Z25 storm the Dom during the Iconoclasm in 'Bilderraus'.

Afterparty
From 1:00 AM, everyone is welcome at the Winkel van Sinkel, where the Netherlands Film Festival is hosting the VJ op de Dom afterparty and Boemklatsch will continue their beats.

Peace of Utrecht
In 2013, the 300th anniversary of the Peace of Utrecht will be celebrated on a grand scale in the city and province of Utrecht with an international cultural program. However, there is already plenty to experience in the city of Utrecht, its neighborhoods, and the region in 2011 and 2012. The celebration does not stand alone: in 2018, Utrecht aims to be the European Capital of Culture. Peace of Utrecht 2013 and Utrecht 2018 are an initiative of the Municipality and Province of Utrecht.
