For a new television program, *Uit Elkaar*, for public broadcasting, we are looking for people willing to participate. This is an exceptional request, so here is a little more information about the program's approach.
Uit elkaar shows what happens when a divorce occurs: often a major turning point in life. We follow a number of people who are separating with the guidance of a mediator.
Questions that form the starting points of the program
How did it come to this? Were you aware of the weak spots in the relationship? How do you deal with the grief, the pain, and any doubt? But above all, what choices are you making now? How do you experience the reactions of those around you? How do friends and family react? What does a mediator do?
We want to provide as complete a picture as possible. This is not only a painful and sad period for those separating. The divorce also has a major impact on friends, family, and any children. That is why we would like to give them a voice as well.
To demonstrate the positive influence a mediator can have, we would also like to record parts of the mediation sessions.
Moreover, we are not looking for the 'ideal' divorce. We want to provide as realistic a picture as possible. That is why we do not comment, take sides, or pass judgment.
Goal
The program provokes thought. We hope that these stories and perspectives lead viewers to reflect on their own relationship or marriage. Is that marriage good? Are there areas for improvement of their own? Is growth possible?
And in some cases, the realization may dawn that it is easy to judge a situation you are not personally involved in and whose ins and outs you do not know. People may also be put into ideas. For example, that divorcing with the guidance of a mediator has a greater chance of ending the marriage positively, despite everything.
We are making four 25-minute episodes. Each episode features a different mediator and couple.
Collaboration
We fully understand that the decision to participate in this program is not taken lightly. Therefore, we are more than willing to schedule an appointment for a no-obligation exploratory meeting.
