Both adventures from the family film series MY FATHER IS A DETECTIVE have been selected for competition at renowned international film festivals in the coming months. In April, the first film, The Mysterious Fort Island, will compete at the Vittorio Veneto Film Festival in Italy. This will be followed by the Russian premiere of the second adventure in the series, The Law of 3, at the international DetectiveFEST in Moscow, where the film has already secured three nominations (Best Film, Best Hero - Cees Geel, Best Antihero - Willeke van Ammelrooy), and subsequently it will compete at the Showcomotion Young People's Film Festival in Sheffield (UK).
MY FATHER IS A DETECTIVE is an exciting and funny youth/family film series in which friends Sam, Sterre, and Ortwin solve cases with Sam's father, Max. As a result, they find themselves in a new adventure time and again. Throughout the series, the kids grow into self-aware teenagers, and Max becomes increasingly adept at single fatherhood. Even his ex-wife is starting to appreciate him more and more, although she still considers Max's work to be dangerous.
Cees Geel plays the lead role of Detective Max, and the lead roles of the youthful cast are portrayed by Tjeerd Melchers, Jasmin Pasteuning, Rick Mackenbach, and Tara Hetharia. The rest of the regular cast consists of Ellen ten Damme as Max's ex-wife and Beau van Erven Dorens as Ortwin's father.
Directed by Will Wissink, the screenplays are written by Zebi Damen. The film series is produced by A'dam Films in co-production with TROS, with a financial contribution from CoBO. The third feature film, titled 'De Competitie', will be released in cinemas this year by A-Film. The film is set against the backdrop of a Pop Talent TV Show and has the motto: 'How far will you go to win?' The first two feature films are now available on DVD.
