The film is about the reserved Robert, who leads an eventful life. He looks back on his time in the army. He manages to escape from captivity, after which even more intense events await him.

Zeeland filmmaker Ruben Schouw financed his film TRAUMA partly through crowdfunding: when people wanted to support his film project, they could do so via an online fundraising campaign. This was possible starting from as little as 10 dollars. In exchange for this financial support, the donor receives a spot in the credits, is allowed to watch the film set, or can help while Ruben edited his film. The more money you donate, the better the reward.
