Crips, Strapped 'n' Strong is about the violent life of a Hague gang, the Main Triad Crips. The gang is primarily engaged in armed robberies and drug trafficking against a backdrop of gangsta rap; 'Rhyme and crime'. The Main Triad Crips have pledged eternal loyalty to one another, and the members emphasize that loyalty with tattoos such as 'Crips4Life'. They mark their territory with graffiti and dress themselves from head to toe in blue, the color of the Crips gangs from Los Angeles. The film portrays a culture of violence in an uncensored manner but also manages to penetrate the thoughts and feelings hidden behind the faces of the gangsters.
The film was made by Joost van der Valk and Mags Gavan (with whom we previously made the documentary Haagse Sjonnie), developed by Revolver, and produced by Pieter van Huystee Film and Revolver. The film premieres at the Breda Film Festival and will be in cinemas from April 16. The film was made with the cooperation of BNN, the Netherlands Film Fund, the Rotterdam Media Fund, and the CoBO Fund, among others. Distributor: Cinema Delicatessen.
