Submit your short film for the YAKFA competition!

This coming summer, the sixth edition of the YAKFA Film Festival will take place in Beverwijk. The Young Art Short Film Award (YAKFA) is once again open for submissions: send in your short film of no more than 20 minutes before May 1, 2014, and who knows, your film might just be screened on the big screen during the YAKFA Film Festival 2014! All genres, from documentary to fiction, from animation to music video, are welcome.

The competition is divided into two categories: amateur (beginner) and semi-professional (e.g., film student). The prize for the winning film in the amateur category consists of participation in the MovieZone Film Festival at the EYE Film Institute and a filmmaking course at Open Studio Amsterdam. Semi-professionals stand a chance to win credit for equipment rental at Open Studio and a weekend masterclass at the Flitsacademie. The competition takes place at the Cineworld cinema, and the films are judged by both the audience and a professional jury. In the past, the jury has included director Eddy Terstall, actor Tygo Gernandt, and producer San Fu Maltha, among others.
