The Amsterdam Film School opens its doors on Friday, January 30 and Saturday, January 31 for the first open days of 2015. During the open days, there is an opportunity to attend a free workshop led by cinematographer Ruurd M. Fenenga, who worked on the TV series Twin Peaks, among others, and also made music videos with Shakira, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, and MC Hammer (U Can't Touch This).
The Amsterdam Film School offers various programs in its curriculum, paying close attention to all aspects of storytelling. For that is what distinguishes the Amsterdam Film School from other institutions: the story told through images is the foundation upon which the final result must rest. The programs at the Amsterdam Film School will start again in March.
In addition, the Amsterdam Film School offers a program specifically designed for students seeking admission to the Netherlands Film Academy. Over a period of 6 to 12 months, students build a portfolio of films that significantly increases their chances of passing the Film Academy's rigorous selection process. All instructors are renowned professionals from the Dutch film industry who understand what is expected of students at the Film Academy and who do everything possible to prepare them as well as possible.
At the Amsterdam Film School, instruction is provided in almost all disciplines of the Film Academy: directing, production, screenwriting, sound, editing, and visual effects. Students receive an 'all-round' education that offers an excellent foundation for specializing at the Film Academy afterwards. During their studies at the Amsterdam Film School, students discover which specialization suits them best.
Students who wish to focus immediately on a single discipline, such as screenwriting or editing, are also in the right place at the Amsterdam Film School. The program lasts six months but can also be completed part-time over a year.
